Productivity Challenge: The Latte Hack

Be A Barista On A Budget

Would you wait an hour and a half for a latte?

Two friends sent me photos of the Starbucks near them yesterday, and this is exactly how long it took them to get through the drive-thru queue. 90 minutes. That’s crazy. Obviously you could take calls, or listen to an audiobook to do something useful with your time. Now, I love a latte, but surely there’s a better way?

I don’t want to waste any amount of time in the middle of covid. I’ve got things to do.

THE CHALLENGE

Can I make a latte that’s

  1. As good as store bought
  2. Costs next to nothing
  3. Quicker than waiting in line
  4. Without a machine?

Now when I was a lad the nearest thing to a latte was luke-warm milky coffee, mainly drunk by old ladies, so:

What the hell is a latte, anyway?

  • Hot milk, preferably steamed
  • A decent head of froth
  • Espresso coffee

Can it really be done with no steamer/frother and no espresso machine?

You bet.

The 5 minute no-machine latte
